2022 Appropriation Bill passes second reading

THE Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA) has passed for second reading, the 2022 appropriation bill after thorough consideration and thereafter committed it to the public hearing stage.

This was one of the items on the agenda during plenary, presided over by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Yakubu Yakson Sanda, at the Old Government House, Rayfield.

Presenting a synopsis of the 2022 budget estimate, the House Majority Leader and member representing Mikang constituency, Hon. Na’anlong Gapyil Daniel, noted that the income and expenditure captured in the budget was geared towards revamping the state’s economic fortunes.

In his contribution, Hon. Mohammed Ballo representing Qua’an Pan South constituency expressed the believe that the 2022 budget would be realistic, adding that policies and programmes would be financed based on the state revenue generation capacity.

On his part, Hon. Wallok Goma representing Kanke constituency while commending the executive for putting together what he described as a thorough budget, said that improving the state’s IGR will no doubt raise the capital expenditure.

Members in their separate submissions, while debating on the merits and demerits of the appropriation bill unanimously agreed that the budget would be realistic and attainable but advised the state government to seek other alternative revenue sources for funding the budget.

Also during plenary, the speaker acknowledged the receipt of two communication from the Executive Governor, Simon Bako Lalong requesting for the screening and confirmation of three commissioner nominees.

While presenting the second letter of communication, the speaker said it was for the approval of request for the virement of funds intended for the take over and completion of the Jos Inland Container Depot, located at Heipang.

Meanwhile, the speaker Yakubu YaksonSanda has reconstituted the House Standing Committees with the Majority Leader Na’anlongGapyil Daniel, overseeing the Committee on Information and Business Rules.
