THE Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Plateau State Chapter, has honoured the Features Editor of THE NIGERIA STANDARD Group of Newspapers and Founder and Coordinator of the Back to Base Initiative for Vulnerable People, Mrs. Jennifer Yarima, with a merit award in recognition of her humanitarian services.
Plateau State YOWICAN Chairman, Barrister Pan-mak Lere, presented the award during the association’s 2025 annual convention held at Government College, Pankshin.
He disclosed that Mrs. Yarima was selected after careful scrutiny and assessment by the executive committee for her immense contributions to humanity and the work of God in YOWICAN Plateau State.
Lere disclosed that the award, ‘YOWICAN Plateau Beacon of Hope 2025’, was in recognition of Mrs. Yarima’s commitment and dedication to the work of God and service to humanity.
“We appreciate your commitment and dedication to the work of God, humanity, and the encouragement and building of the work in YOWICAN Plateau State,” he stated.
Responding, Mrs. Jennifer Yarima expressed gratitude to YOWICAN for the honour, dedicating it to God Almighty.
She also acknowledged the Plateau Publishing Corporation, publishers of THE NIGERIA STANDARD Group of Newspapers, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council, and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NA-WOJ), Plateau State Chapter, for giving her the platforms and shaping her passion towards raising awareness and advocating justice for women, girls and vulnerable persons in society.
THE NIGERIA STANDARD reports that other recipients at the event included: Mr. Yari Kumchi; Barr. John Christopher, Chairman, Jos North Local Government Council; Barr. Peter Gai, Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Plateau State; Mr. Timothy Dantong; and Mrs. Margaret Dachomo.
