From ABBAS GUNGURA, Bauchi

AS Bauchi joins other states of the federation to celebrate the 2024 International Day of the Girl-Child, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bauchi State Chapter, has donated learning and instructional materials to Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Kofar Wambai, in Bauchi.

The items donated included textbooks, white boards, dusters and markers to improve learning in line with this year’s theme, ‘Girls Vision for the Future’.

Presenting the items to the school management, Hajiya Rashida Yusuf, Chairperson, Bauchi State NAWOJ, reiterated the commitment of the association to advocate and promote girl-child education and adolescent health.

She said the association would intensify sensitization campaigns on welfare and support girls to achieve their future potentials.

“NAWOJ will continue to mentor and counsel girls in various areas to ensure they achieve their future potentials.

“We donated these items to contribute to the development of girls in all aspects of human endeavors.

“We believe that in schools we catch them young and we encourage them to display their talents, bring out their uniqueness that will contribute to human development,” she declared.

Appreciating the gesture, Mrs Aisha Mohammed, Vice Principal, Administration, of the school, said the materials would support the learning process in the school and commended the association for choosing GGSS, Kofar Wambai, for the gesture.

She called on NAWOJ to use its good offices to organize more programmes that would enlighten girls on their career prospects to pave way to a purposeful future.
