The tactical and indiscriminate land grabbing by foreigners ongoing in Plateau State would not be tolerated, but reclaimed immediately, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Philemon Dafi, stated
He gave the warning at the end of a five-day training on Best Practices in Contemporary Construction and Procurement for Built Environment Sector, held at the Millennium Centre, Jos, the state capital.
He attested to the fact that Plateau lands were given to them by God as a birth right, but the State Government would not allow sit on its oars until all illegally acquired lands were rightfully returned to the original owners.
“This is why as a government, we will not fold our arms and watch foreigners take over our lands. As professionals, you must protect the land before you start talking about designs and erecting buildings.
“It is our God-given assets and we will not allow anyone take it away from our people. I call on you all to support government’s efforts toward making this a reality to enable it deliver the dividends of democracy to its people.
“We cannot build a better Plateau if we don’t unite no matter your skills and expertise. If we are not united, we cannot build and we will only be deploying resources to waste. We need a better Plateau and that’s why our unity is important,” he reiterated.
Dafi, therefore, advised professionals in the built industry to desist from envy and rivalry and synergise toward the growth and progress of the state as government plans to change the narrative because the interest of its people was central.
THE NIGERIA STANDARD reports that, the training was organised by the Strategy and Result Delivery Office (SRDO), under the office of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and had participants from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
