THE Evangel Worship Centre (EWC), Jos, of the Assemblies of God Church Worldwide celebrated Men’s Fellowship Day last Sunday in grand style with thanksgiving and acknowledgement of God’s faithfulness.

The President of the Men’s Fellowship, Mr. Abednego Dadar, called on men to be dedicated as gatekeepers of their families and communities.

He made this call during the Sunday service while highlighting activities of the week-long programme themed,’MenatWork’.

Dadar explained that the theme aligned with the church council’s global focus on’Increase1.

He said the programme had prepared men for exploits despite challenges, assuring them of God’s grace and blessings.

The celebration featured playlets, Bible recitations and special songs by members.

Dadar noted that theology connected God and knowledge while ethics of work required men to follow God’s example.

He emphasised that God had given men the potential to prosper, citing Biblical figures such as Moses, David, Elisha and the disciples.

He urged men to trust God, who rewards their labour and brings blessings upon their work.

In a sermon, Mr. Maxwell Ugwu drew from Genesis 2:15 and John 17:4, stressing that people are remembered for their work on earth.

Ugwu likened ‘Men at Work’ to construction workers, saying productivity remains the evidence of rewards.

He urged men to provide for their families as required by the Bible so that they would not be worse than unbelievers.

Assemblies of God missionary, Rev. Jim Seymour, serving in Zimbabwe, also spoke on the theme.

He stressed Africa’s vital role in preserving the Gospel, citing examples such as Ebedmelech, Simon of Cyrene, Rahaband Ruth.

Lead Pastor Rev. Godswill Israel praised the men’s ministry for blessing the church through their activities.

He urged men to join the fellowship for spiritual, physical, social and mental growth and encouraged wives to support them.

Highlights included award presentations to some members.
