GOVERNOR Caleb Mutfwang last Friday visited Plateau United Football Club at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos, where he encouraged players to remain committed despite recent setbacks.
“Do not allow the current challenges to demoralise you. Stay united, work together, and remain consistent in your efforts. The season is still long, and there is great hope for Plateau United,” he said.
The governor commended their spirited performance in Enugu despite not scoring, noting that football often rewards persistence.
“I know you are a talented group of players. Though you have conceded some goals, do not let that define you or hinder your progress. Remember, you are playing for yourselves, for the badge you wear, for Plateau State, and for the supporters who believe in you. The best is yet to come, and by God’s grace, we will address all the teething problems facing this team.”

He further promised additional incentives: “Government’s support for Plateau United has not changed. We will stand by you. As a club, you’ve been promised match and winning bonuses, but from my own pocket, I will add another bonus to encourage you.”
Mutfwang urged all supporters to rally behind the club: “Every lover of Plateau United must join hands to support this team. Distractions and divisions must be set aside. Together, we will celebrate Plateau United’s success at the end of this season.”
Club Captain, Hilary Albert, thanked the governor for his encouragement, assuring that the team would work hard to uphold Plateau’s pride.
The governor also extended similar encouragement to Mighty Jets Football Club players ahead of their new season.
