GOVERNOR Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has celebrated the Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Argak Kwashi on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as a man of courage whose life has been marked by service to God and humanity.
Speaking at the milestone celebration and unveiling of a book in honour of Kwashi’s late father, ‘John Amos Kwashi: A Witness to History’, held at Crispan Hotel, Jos, on Saturday, Governor Mutfwang said Archbishop Kwashi’s life reflected unwavering devotion to God and the betterment of society.
Represented by his the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, the governor hailed the retired Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jos as a fearless voice and advocate for peace, justice and truth.
“The celebrant’s courageous and sacrificial ministry, as well as his fearless work in shaping the church and future leaders, are legacies that will benefit generations,” Mutfwang said.
He noted that the unveiling of the book, which chronicled both the life of the celebrant and the profound impact of his late father, John Amos Kwashi, represented a bridge between generations that would continue to inspire many.
The celebrant, Archbishop Benjamin Argak Kwashi, who is widely regarded as a social crusader and outspoken critic of injustice and religious bigotry, explained that the occasion was aimed at sharing the story of the legacies he was leaving behind and reflecting on what was expected of him at 70.
Elder statesman, Canon Selchan Miner, the celebrant’s sister, Sarah Dalyop, and the Director-General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, Julie Sanda, delivered goodwill messages, describing Archbishop Kwashi as a great treasure to the state.
