The Agro-Climatic Residence in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has donated 11 vehicles (Land Cruisers) to the National Park Service (NPS), to facilitate wildlife conservation operations at its new parks.

Dr Ibrahim Goni, Conservator-General (C-G) of NPS disclosed this at the pull-out ceremony of retired Assistant Conservator General (ACG), Gabriel Agba, in Abuja on Thursday.

Goni also disclosed that ACReSAL had also constructed five new barracks, and  six of the new National Parks as well as renovated four of the old National Parks.

According to him, the NPS has received donations of 11 Land Cruisers to enable its new parks to take off operations in wildlife conservation.

“The Agro-Climatic Residence in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) is doing a good job because they donated the vehicles to us

“This donation is to enable the new National Parks take off and for the old National Parks to stabilise.

“They have also constructed five new barracks, six of the new National Parks and rehabilated four of the old National Parks”.

The C-G said that the construction of the new barracks would facilitate the operations of the park.

He added that ACReSAL had also been effective in the training of NPS personnel on the issues of climate change mitigation, agroforestry and Information Communication Technology (ICT) adding that the Service had also received large number of ICT equipment from the organisation.

He noted that the NPS was among the 15 armed-bearing organisations in the country.

He added that in spite of this, the Service was still pursuing its presence in national day celebrations like the Independence Day and other National Day celebrations.

Goni commended the passion and tireless efforts of the retired ACG Agba, while in service and wished him a well deserved retirement.

He said that Agba would be greatly missed for his versatility in the operations of the park.

Responding, Agba, thanked God for the privilege given to him to have a career in NPS as an agency that protects God’s great creation.

He thanked officers of the park for their support during his service at the organisation. (NAN)
