From WILLIE ATTAH, Gombe

The Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) has officially launched the Nigeria Country Resilience and Human Security Assessment document.

The landmark multidimensional study was conducted by OSPRE, a Federal Government agency, in partnership with ECOWAS, the European Union (EU) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The launching ceremony in Abuja brought together senior government officials, civil society representatives, development partners and members of the diplomatic community.

According to OSPRE’s Strategic Communications Officer, Amina Wali, the comprehensive assessment provides an in-depth analysis of Nigeria’s resilience capacities and human security dynamics across key sectors, offering actionable insights to guide policy and strengthen national responses to emerging threats.

The Director-General of OSPRE described the report as a milestone in Nigeria’s strategy to anticipate, prepare for and respond to risks affecting human and national security.

“This study represents a critical milestone in our national strategy to anticipate, prepare for, and respond effectively to risks that threaten human and national security,” he explained.

Representatives of ECOWAS, the EU and GIZ reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s resilience agenda and commended the government’s proactive approach to addressing insecurity and vulnerability.

Our correspondent reports that the Nigeria Country Resilience and Human Security Assessment is expected to serve as a key tool for improving coordination among institutions and aligning security and development interventions nationwide.
