The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced plans to embark on an inspection tour of sporting facilities in Enugu State from October 21–24, 2025, as part of ongoing preparations for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged, ‘Coal City Games 2026’.
This was contained in a press release signed by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant (Media) to the Director General of the NSC, and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD Sports Desk.
The statement described the inspection exercise as a crucial step toward ensuring that the festival meets international standards and delivers on its promise of being a world-class event promoting excellence, unity, and talent development across Nigeria.
According to the release, the inspection team will assess existing infrastructure, review progress on upgrades and engage with local stakeholders to ensure that Enugu is fully prepared to host athletes and fans from across the country.
The Commission also expressed appreciation to the Enugu State Government for its unwavering commitment to hosting a successful festival, noting that its dedication reflects the true spirit of partnership required to elevate Nigeria’s sporting landscape.
“The National Sports Festival remains Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, serving as a breeding ground for champions and a symbol of national unity,” the statement read.
The NSC further reaffirmed its determination to work closely with the Enugu State Government to deliver a festival that will not only inspire the nation but also leave a lasting legacy in the country’s sports history.
