The Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it would deploy 1,500 personnel for its ’ember months’ special patrols in the state.
Mr Olajide Mogaji, the state Sector Commander disclosed this during a news conference on Monday in Jos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the news conference had announced the commencement of the ember months patrols in the state.
Mogaji added that the command would also deploy operational vehicles, trucks, bikes and other necessary gadgets towards the success of the operation.
The sector commander explained that the deployment aimed at ensuring an accident-free Yuletide in the state and beyond.
“We are well prepared. We we mobilise all available resources, both the one we have and the acquired ones that is why we are collaborating with other agencies to achieve an accident free yuletide.
“Our focus is on reducing crashes on our highways; and if crashes occur, we should not lose a life.
“This is why we will be deploying 1,500 personnel and other critical resources across the state,” he said.
Mr Joseph Udoabba, the Jos Zonal Commanding Officer of the Corps, called on motorists to support FRSC in its drive for safer roads in the country.
Udoabba advised motorists to desist from overloading, speeding, dangerous overtaking and drinking of alcohol before driving.
