Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has called on citizens of the state serving in various capacities across the country to unite and work together for the common good of the state.

He urged the political elite to put aside party differences and prioritise the collective interest of the state above personal or partisan considerations.

Speaking at the 2025 Harvest of Hope Thanksgiving of Saint Monica Catholic Church, Rantya, Jos, on Sunday, Governor Mutfwang expressed concern over the growing lack of love and unity among Plateau citizens.

He said such divisions had allowed the enemies of the state to exploit their differences.

“Until we see the bigger picture of Plateau and stop fighting each other, progress will continue to elude us,” he warned, stressing that one of his greatest desires as governor was to unite the people so that everyone could see each other as brothers and sisters.

He further stated, “Let’s agree that as a people, we know what we want, we know where we are coming from, and we know where we are going. Once we get to that point, outsiders will not cheat us.”

The governor expressed gratitude to God for giving him the privilege to serve, and disclosed that the state government would soon revitalise the state abattoir and introduce a modern system of cattle rearing for the economic benefit of Plateau citizens.

Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo, who served as one of the Mothers of the Day at the event, commended the church for its role in transforming the spiritual lives of the people.

Chairman of the occasion, Senator Napoleon Bali, urged the congregation to cultivate a life of gratitude, saying thanksgiving was a demonstration of appreciation to God for His faithfulness, and pledged his continued support to the church.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Gowok admonished parishioners to view thanksgiving as an opportunity to express appreciation to God for His goodness, stressing that true gratitude was seen in thanksgiving, and that “no one will ever have enough before giving.”

Governor Mutfwang attended the event with his wife, Mrs Helen Mutfwang, alongside the Deputy Governor, Mrs Piyo, the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Jatau, Chief of Staff, Jeremiah Satmak, commissioners, and other top aides.

The highlight of the thanksgiving was a special prayer session for peace and stability in Plateau State and the nation at large.
