The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Barrister John K. Christopher, has called on teachers within the local government area to revive the lost glory of public primary schools.
He made the call while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Jos North chapter, at the council headquarters recently.
Barrister Christopher reminisced about the past when public primary schools played a pivotal role in producing great leaders and intellectuals, urging teachers to remain dedicated, focused and diligent in their work.
“The past glory of our public primary schools can be restored if teachers put in their best,” he stated, adding, “We need to work together to uplift our primary schools and ensure our children receive the best possible education.”
The council chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting education and teachers in the local government area, assuring the NUT leadership that his administration would prioritise teachers’ welfare and the development of primary education in Jos North.
In his remarks, Comrade Shina Andrew Agada, Chairman of the NUT Jos North chapter, briefed the council chairman on the recent state election of the union, where Comrade Yakubu Ali Kaiwa emerged as the Assistant Social Secretary.
Agada expressed appreciation to Barrister Christopher for his consistent support to the union and prayed for continued wisdom and strength in his leadership.
Our correspondent reports that the chairman’s call is seen as a timely reminder for renewed efforts towards improving the quality of education in public primary schools across Jos North LGA.
