A human rights lawyer, Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has hailed the re-election of Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra, who was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Ejiofor in his congratulatory contained in a statement in Onitsha on Sunday, described the victory as well-deserved.
According to him, this victory, though emphatic and overwhelming, came as no surprise to discerning observers of Anambra’s political landscape.
“It is a triumph long foretold, a success I had publicly predicted days before the poll.
“All empirical indicators and political permutations pointed unmistakably to the fact that Soludo, All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, was, in truth, in a contest against himself.
“While many may have speculated otherwise, the handwriting on the wall was clear in his broad-based acceptance across the length and breadth of Anambra,” he said.
The legal practitioner noted that the governor’s grassroots engagement, and the visible imprints of his developmental strides spoke louder than any campaign slogan.
He explained that what transpired at the polls was not merely an election but in every sense, a coronation by the people of the state, reaffirming their confidence in a visionary leader.
“As you embark on this second mandate, I urge you to remain magnanimous in victory. The season of campaign rhetorics is over; governance, in its purest form, must now take centre stage,” he added.
He urged the governor to see himself as the leader of all, those, who supported him and those, who did not, saying that he should abide by the spirit of inclusiveness, tolerance, and visionary governance. (NAN)
