The Wusal Berom celebration drew dignitaries from across Nigeria and abroad, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who reaffirmed his commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence, respect for traditional institutions and cultural preservation of the Plateau people.
The celebration, organised by the Berom Language and Translation Board (BLTB), was held at Cwel, Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area.
Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to God and the Berom people, recalling their prayers during Wusal Berom 2022 which preceded his emergence as governor.
He commended the clergy for fostering fellowship and brotherhood and urged political actors to pursue a ‘Plateau Agenda’ built on collaboration rather than conflict.
He warned youths against divisive social media campaigns, emphasising that power belongs to God alone.
Former Governor Jonah Jang praised Mutfwang’s leadership, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, represented by Da Gwom Rwei Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Bot, also commended the governor.
Other dignitaries, including Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro and the Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, praised the resilience of the Berom nation.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Rev. Daniel Saje, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and the proposed Wusal Berom Arena was unveiled with notable donations from the governor and dignitaries.
