Football Club of Jos
secured their biggest win
of the season after
defeating visiting Barau
Football Club of Kano 2–0
in a Nigeria Premier
Football League (NPFL)
Match Day 8 fixture played
at the New Jos Stadium on
Sunday.
Although the visitors
dominated the first half, it
ended goalless. When
play resumed, the Peace

Adviser of Plateau United
Football Club of Jos,
expressed gratitude after
the win, noting that the
opening half was tough for
his team.
“The first half wasn’t
impressive, but in the
second half my boys came
out fighting and got a goal
which gave them a lot of
confidence to express
themselves, so we are
h a p p y w i t h t h e
improvement,” he said.
“It’s important for us to
get results away from
home. We came close in
our last game, and
hopefully in the next away
match, we’ll be able to
check that box. We need
to get points away in order
to climb up the table
b e c a u s e w e ’ r e n o t
comfortable where we are
now,” he added.
On his part, Ladan Bosso
of Barau Football Club of
Kano said they came to
Jos fully prepared to win
but were left disappointed.
“Well, the match has
been played and winners
have emerged, but if
someone had told me I
was going to lose, I
wouldn’t have agreed
because we planned to
come and pick the three
points. The first half my
boys played excellently
well, but in the second half
they lost concentration
and within fifteen minutes
we conceded two goals,”
Bosso lamented.
H e , h o w e v e r ,
commended the NPFL
Board for improving the
quality of the league.
“The beauty of the
league is that sometimes
you pick points away and
fumble at home. If you look
at the league now, the
board is passionate about
promoting and motivating
the players. Plateau
United is a good side, but
today we played better
than them — we just
c o u l d n ’ t u s e t h a t
advantage to get the
result,” he concluded.
The victory lifts Plateau
United to 15th position on
the NPFL table. They will
travel to Minna on Sunday
to face Niger Tornadoes in
t h e i r n e x t l e a g u e
encounter.
