A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Youth Structure for Asiwaju, has pledged to mobilise six million young Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The group’s convener, Dr Michael Nwoko, stated this in an interview with journalists at the APC National Secretariat on Monday in Abuja.
Nwoko explained that the initiative was specifically targeted at youth, especially first-time voters turning 18.
“We will deploy all necessary tools to secure votes for President Tinubu, who has repositioned the country on a path of economic growth and development,” he said.
He added that Tinubu’s policies demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment and national progress, noting that supporting his re-election would serve the long-term interests of Nigerian youth.
The group aims to use a data-driven process to identify young Nigerians of voting age and integrate them into a nationwide mobilisation network across zonal, state and local government levels.
“We will engage youths constructively and build an organic followership from among them. Our sustainable database will ensure we reach about ten million youths in the coming months,” Nwoko disclosed.
He further outlined the overarching goal: “Our aim is to deliver six million votes for President Tinubu in 2027 and ensure a sweeping victory for all APC candidates in the general elections.”
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Nwoko said the APC had learned valuable lessons and would not be caught unprepared again, adding, “We have concluded that what happened in 2023 will not happen again. The president has addressed those gaps, and we are fully ready for the next election.”
