The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda, has said that the President Bola Tinubu administration is doing its best to improve the country’s economy and better the lives of Nigerians.
Yilwatda stated this at the 21st All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) in Abuja on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two-day conference, declared open by the president on Wednesday, has “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors” as its theme.
Yilwatda, while commending the media for being the conscience of the society, urged practitioners not to relent in changing the narratives in the overall interest of the country.
He noted that the constructive criticisms of the President Bola Tinubu administration by the media had helped in improving the quality of governance being offered by the administration.
He recalled that virtually all the issues raised during his recent meeting with the APC governors in Kebbi were picked from the media.
He expressed appreciation to media practitioners over how they had been helping the present administration since its coming on board in 2023.
“Criticisms are big tools for improving the quality of governance,” the APC national chairman said, stressing that they are also partners in community development.
He stressed the importance of continued partnership between government and the media to enhance good governance and the general well-being of citizens.
He said “the media should not be tired of calling the attention of the government to what it should do at any point in time and should not be done, as they are the conscience of the society.”(NAN)
