The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, along with several other high-profile members, over what the party described as “serious anti-party activities” and conduct deemed harmful to its cohesion and progress.

In a statement released Saturday, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP confirmed that the affected individuals had been removed from the party with immediate effect.

Others expelled included former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose; Hon. Umar Bature; Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN; Mohammed Abdulrahman; Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; Hon. Austine Nwachukwu; Abraham Amah; George Turner; and Chief Dan Orbih.

According to the PDP, the decision followed extensive deliberations and investigations into longstanding allegations of misconduct. The party added that the expulsions were necessary to “restore discipline, uphold the party’s constitution, and strengthen its internal democratic structure.”

Political analysts suggest that the move could significantly reshape the party’s internal dynamics ahead of upcoming elections, as several of the expelled members are known to wield considerable influence in their respective regions.

Our correspondent reports that the PDP’s decision marked one of the most high-profile disciplinary actions in recent party history, signalling a renewed emphasis on discipline, internal cohesion and strict adherence to its constitution.
