Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has intensified efforts to attract global investment to the state through a series of strategic engagements at the ongoing G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a press statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, Gyang Bere, the governor was part of Nigeria’s official delegation which was received by officials of the Nigeria High Commission in Johannesburg alongside representatives of the South African government.

His engagements began at the Investment Breakfast Dialogue jointly organised by the Nigeria High Commission, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), and the MTN Group.

At the meeting, he interacted with leading global investors in mining, agriculture, energy, digital technology, healthcare, finance and manufacturing.

Governor Mutfwang presented his administration’s development blueprint and emphasised Plateau State’s readiness for transformative investments and mutually beneficial partnerships.

During several strategic sessions, he met with top industry leaders, including the MTN Group President and CEO, the Executive Secretary of the NIPC, Ms Aisha Rimi, and the President and CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation, Mr Samaila Zubairu.

The discussions explored new opportunities to unlock investments across key sectors in Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang highlighted the State’s comparative advantages, including vast mineral deposits, rich agricultural potential, a growing tourism sector and expanding capacity for renewable energy.

He noted that ongoing reforms in governance, transparency and economic management had positioned Plateau State as a strong destination for large-scale private sector investment.

According to the statement, the governor stressed Plateau’s strategic central location, fertile landscape, abundance of solid minerals and vibrant youthful population.

He reassured potential investors of his administration’s commitment to investor-friendly policies, regulatory clarity and infrastructure development to support growth in mining, agro-processing, ICT and clean energy.

In further pursuit of investment opportunities, the governor met with the leadership of Precious Metals Tswane (PMT), one of South Africa’s foremost precious-metal refineries.

The meeting examined PMT’s expansion prospects in Nigeria, with Governor Mutfwang making a strong case for Plateau State as the most viable location for such high-value investment.

The governor also joined the Nigerian delegation on a technical visit to a metal-processing plant in Johannesburg.

The visit provided firsthand exposure to global industrial standards, beneficiation techniques and advanced processing systems.

Governor Mutfwang said Plateau State’s vision goes beyond mineral extraction and aims to build a competitive processing and manufacturing hub that creates jobs, uplifts mining communities and positions the state as a national leader in mineral-based value chains.
