Anambra Soludo emerges Governor

Former Central Bank Governor, Dr. Charles Soludo, has emerged the newly elected Governor of Anambra in the recently concluded 2021 supplementary election amidst tight security.

Although, the governorship election held in ihiala local government area where unknown gunmen tried to intrude LG Headquarters went successful as security forces repelled them.

 

It was revealed that, had the election was allowed to be disrupted by these unknown gunmen, it would led to state of emergency in the state.

Plateau Head of Civil Service emerges GOSA President

The Plateau State Head of Civil Service, Engr. Sunday C. Hyat, has been unanimously elected as the National President of Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA) to man the affairs of the association for the next three years.

This took place shortly after the Gindiri Compound Schools Re-Union Service held at the Ulsar Church in Gindiri  at  the Owen David Wilmshurts Assembly Hall of Boys’ Secondary School (BSS) Gindiri of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State  last Sunday.

Plateau Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) elects new officials

Plateau state Chapter of the Joint Negotiating Council, has elected its new executive council to oversee the affairs of the union in the state for the next two years with Comrade Titus Malau as the new Chairman.

The Returning officer, Comrade Roseline Uba Anara, after a keenly contested elections announced the results in Jos, the Plateau State Capital describing the elections as the most peaceful of all elections.

Governors raise eyebrows over Paris Club refund

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has accused the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) of bias in handling the disputed $418 million allegedly owed private contractors and firms by the 36 states and local governments in relation to the Paris Club refund.

NGF wondered why Malami, as a public officer would be eager to ensure that public funds are transferred to private individuals and entities even when the alleged debt was being disputed and currently the subject of pending litigations.

Food Security: Nigeria under threat

Defence Minister, Gen. Salihu Magashi, has lamented that food security has become a new dimension of threat to the nation’s stability.

He also expressed concern Tuesday over the rise in secession agitations in the Southeast, insurgency in the Northeast, banditry in the NorthWest and North Central as well as militancy and oil bunkering in the South South.

Court sentences Maina to 61 years imprisonment

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has sentenced the former Chairman of the defunct Pension ReformTaskforce (PRTF), Abdurasheed Maina, to a total of sixty-one years imprisonment for defrauding the Federal Government of the sum of N2.1 billion.

Justice OK on Abang, in his judgment, found Maina guilty of all the 12-Count charge brought against him on October 26, 2021 by the Econmic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  and sentenced him accordingly.

Buhari launches 2021 dry season wheat farming in Plateau State

President Muhammadu Buhari  has flagged off the first ever rain-fed commercial wheat cultivation in Nigeria at the Wheat Seed Multiplication Farm in Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State.

The President who was represented by the Plateau State Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, also challenged Nigerian Farmers to embrace wheat farming to  stop the importation of this produce that gulps over 2 billion dollars annually.

North-Central NIPR set to hold summit on National Integration, Peace and Security in Jos

The North-Central Zone of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has concluded all arrangements to hold its Summit on National Integration, Peace and Security come November 16, 2021 with Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger and Plateau States in attendance.

The North-Central Zone Chairman, Planning Committee of NIPR summit, Barr. Haroun Audu, broke the news at the press briefing organized by the Planning Committee Friday, at the Conference hall of Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Jos.
