APC congratulates Plang for victory as senator-elect

Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has congratulated its Central Zone Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Diket Plang, for emerging as Senator-elect in the recently concluded rerun as INEC finally and rightfully declared him winner last week in Pankshin LGA.

This came in a press statement signed by the party state Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sylvanus Namang, and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital Sunday shortly after the declaration by the Returning Officer, Dr. Jima Lar at the senatorial headquarters Pankshin on Saturday.

The statement stated that, the results announced by the new Returning Officer, Dr Jima Lar, that Hon Diket Plang, polled 131,129 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Yohanna Gotom of the PDP who scored 127,022 votes and Barr. Garba Pwul of the Labour Party who polled 36, 510 votes.

The state APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, congratulated Hon. Diket Plang, and praised him over his maturity, patience and resilience while the standoff lasted. “Hon. Diket Plang’s emergence as Distinguished Senator-elect for Plateau Central Senatorial District is most well- deserved as he is a grassroots mobiliser who has great confidence in his capacity and abilities to deliver the dividends of democracy to his constituents.

“As a former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, former elected Local Government Chairman, former Commissioner in Plateau State amongst many other positions of responsibilities he held in the state, Hon. Diket Plang, I believe is going to be a great asset to Plateau State in the National Assembly”, the Publicity Secretary assured.

Bature, however, praised INEC for its courage in doing the needful by concluding the electoral process of declaring the final results for the senatorial district and also commended the APC family in the state for their patience in spite of all forms of provocation and propaganda by one of the opposition parties in the state in respect of the Plateau Central Senatorial District election results.

He also expressed gratitude to security agencies in the state who ensured the provision of security and maintenance of peace before, during and after the announcement of the results.
