Fintiri restores destroyed facilities in Michika, Madagali

         Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has restored electricity in Michika and Madagali Local Government Areas of the  state which  were destroyed by  Boko Haram insurgents about six years ago.

          Governor Fintiri did the commissioning Tuesday before flagging off construction of both the Michika and Madagali Road Projects.

        Reports indicates that about   N283.8 million was spent on the electricity project of the two local government areas.

          The Michika township road will be 6.8km, that of Madagali is 5.1km while the two projects will gulp about N2.5billion.

          Fintiri disclosed during the occasion that other towns like Bazza, Watu, Michika, Shuwa, Gulak and Madagali are to also  enjoy this  electricity.

          He revealed that one of his administrations priority is to ensure that rural communities get a fair share of projects.

          Governor Fintiri who warned against vandalizing the projects added that his administration will not tolerate any act that will destroy the progress of his administration.

          In his remarks, the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development,  Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Prambe was happy that light is being restored to the areas after they were destroyed in 2014.

          In his contribution, Zonal Managing Director of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) Mr. Baba Umaru Mustapha said plans were also on to improve power voltage in Mubi and its environs.

          He appealed to consumers in both Michika and Madagali to co-operate with them in the payment of light bills.

          Also speaking, the Commissioner for works and energy Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar observed that the projects were long overdue due to neglect and as a result of insurgency and ecological degradation.

          According to Abubakar, the project will be completed in fourteen months and called for co-operation to the contractors.

          Responding to the speeches, the contracting firm Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited Engineer Elie Abu Farahat gave assurance of quality work and to complete the work in good time.Police Inspector, others kidnapped in Adamawa

         Unknown  gunmen have  killed one person and  abducted a Police Inspector in Adamawa State.

Others also kidnapped included  a serving councilor representing Koma ward, a businessman, two married women and the son of the late District Head of Koma in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

          Those abducted are Inspector Yakubu Hon. Bulus Geofrey, Hamanjidda Hammanjalo, Hajiya Amina and two wives of a popular hunter Malam Hassan.

          According to the report, a Fulani man simply identified as Wawu was gunned down by the assailants while herding their victims into the bush.

          Information has it that the criminals were in total control of the area since there was no one to challenge them.

         Reports further indicated that  they were in the home of Hassan to allegedly kill him but when they could not meet him, they abducted his two wives.

          Information from the area has it that the kidnappers were yet to make contact as at the time of this report.

          The Police Relations Officer Adamawa Police Command DSP Suleiman Nguroje told our Correspondent that their men were on the trail of the criminals.

          “I can tell you that it happened and our men in conjunction with Local hunters are currently on the trail of the kidnappers” he says.

          Our Correspondent reports that kidnapping for ransom has become full business in Adamawa State as these kidnappers have been raking in  millions of naira from their victims.
