FOWALI celebrates the Nigerian girl-child

FOUNDATION  for Women  Awareness and  Learning  Initiative (FOWALI)  joins  the  world in celebrating this auspicious day, (The International day of the Girl Child) with special focus on the Nigerian Girl Child.

This was contained  in  press  statement  signed by it’s Spokesperson,  Mrs.RuthNdongTonjing  and made available to THE  NIGELRIA  STANDARD  in  Jos, recently.

The foundation said the girl child daily encounters many constraint that limit their ability to gain access to quality education and health care in a society that encourages gender discrimination, gender-based labour division, female mutilation, early marriage etc.

FOWALI  acknowledges the importance of the theme of this year’s celebration: “Digital Generation. Our Generation”, which also align with one of its aims and objectives and has further, embolden us in our work in raising awareness in digital literacy as the most effective pathway for the girl child empowerment and job creation.

They called on stakeholders, the government at all levels to increase their commitments in the education of the girl child to eradicate the increasing numbers of out of school children in Nigeria.

At FOWALI,  we  are  committed to  pushing digital  literacy and skills for the girl child in Nigeria and to facilitate opportunities for the  girl child to safely and meaningfully access and use digital technology in their everyday lives.
