Efforts to broker peace between the warring people of Waja of Gombe State and the Lunguda people of Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State turned sour with the people booing the Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth and accusing him of taking sides.

Chief Crowther Seth is the deputy to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.   Only recently the two tribes engaged themselves in a communal clash resulting to the loss of several lives.

The booing took place at the Central Primary School in Guyuk where about 3000 IDPs are being camped.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri while appealing for calm among them assured of constituting a panel to unravel the circumstances behind the crisis.

He had hardly mentioned the name of his deputy as one of the members and more so a son of the soil when the IDPs became enraged.

The IDPs stressed very strongly to the Governor that the deputy governor has one man Friday who is his hench man and has been benefitting from the crisis.

They accused the deputy Governor of harboring a criminal one Halilu S.Y. who they allege is a war monger.

Displaying placards with different inscriptions, they claimed that the said Halilu is not only a war monger but equally rustles cattles.   Governor Fintiri however assured that he will deal with all those having a hand in the crisis.

However, Press Secretary to the Governor Humwashi Wonosikou told newsmen to disregard such information saying it was a calculated attempt to cause unnecessary tension during an event which the governor wanted to use to establish peace.

Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed on Guyuk by the state government.

Police Command spokesman’s DSP Suleiman Nguroje has warned all not to violate the curfew as such violation will be met with force.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police Olubenga Adeyanju is calling on the people of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government and Guyuk to maintain the peace.
