Gombe to host investment summit

As Gombe plans to host its maiden Investment Summit to showcase it’s potentials to the World, the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park and International Conference Centre will take the centre stage during the event.

The State Deputy Governor, Manasseh Daniel Jatau, gave this indication when he visited the two multi billion naira projects over the weekend. The summit is slated for 11th and 12th October, 2022.

Dr. Manasseh led members of the Steering Committee during the visit to the Industrial Park and the International Conference Centre as part of preparation to ensure that both facilities project the business potentials of the State.

The Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park is a multi billion naira industrial hub capable of creating thousands of job, through entrepreneurial activities while the International Conference Centre, is an event centre capable of hosting world class events of any type. It will also be the venue for the Summit.

The International Conference Centre, has been made suitable to host business magnates all over the world while the industrial park has been made to give a good impression of a business worthy environment to woo investors into the State.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the inspection visit to the two places in Dadinkowa, Yamaltu- Deba LGA and Tunfure in Akko LGA, the Deputy Governor expressed delight that the stage is almost set for the hosting of the summit.

At the industrial park the team was received by the site Engineer, Abubakar Batagarawa of Multi System Consultants. He told the committee that the activities at the park were at various levels of completion.

He explained that the park is planned in such a way that all the basic infrastructure needed such as water, power, roads, hospitals, security points, among others have been provided to attract investors and for successful operations in the park.

He said “there are provisions of five hectares and above for heavy industries, Two- point Four to five hectares for medium industries and zero- point- four to two-point- four for low industries.

“There are provisions for low density and high density houses. There are also provisions of two reservoirs for reserving water to the tune of one million five hundred thousand liters. One is completed and the other is ongoing”, he stated.

The Engineer noted with happiness that the industrial park will create employment, boost revenue and income generation as well as raise the standard of livelihood of the people in the state.

The contractor was however asked to do more in the site so as to positively impress the investors by putting in place all the necessary things needed in a modern industrial park.

Also receiving the Committee at the International Conference Centre, the Facility Manager, Engr. Istakis Emmanuel, informed the committee that everything is in order except for services that needed to be done on some of the facilities.

Recall that the Gombe State Government had recently inaugurated a Steering Committee to facilitate the staging of the State’s investment summit tagged Go-Invest 2022.

The steering committee is chaired by the State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau; Dr.Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman, Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company Ltd; Haruna Jalo Waziri, Managing Director/CEO, Central Securities Clearing Systems Plc. among others.

Dr.Ishiyaku Mohammed, the State Governor’s Special Adviser on Budget Planning and Development Partners Coordination is the secretary of the committee.

The summit is being facilitated in conjunction with the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission and other partners under the patronage of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
