GOSA @ 50: Committee outlines activities for the celebration

The apex body of the Gindiri Old Students’ Association (GOSA), has outlined activities marking its 50th anniversary starting with road walk and environmental sanitation tomorrow Monday by 8am and 10am in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The National President of the association, Engr. Sunday C. Hyat disclosed this Friday at a press briefing held at the JD Gomwalk, GOSA National Secretariat, Ahmed Mu’azu House along Dogon Karfe Jos, the state capital.

The President said this would be followed by a visit to the school’s proprietor at the Church Of Christ In Nations (COCIN) Headquarters by 10am and later to the Chairman, Plateau State Traditional Council, Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty, Da Jacob Gyang Buba on Tuesday November 22, 2022 respectively.

According to him, GOSA members would pay a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, CON, at the Plateau State Government House Jos, on Wednesday November 23, 2022. And in all these visits, members are to appear in GOSA @ 50 T-shirts.

Other activities included, visit to Mishkaam Mwaghavul, HRH Da John Putmang Hirse in Mangu and Sum Pyem, HRH Charles Mato  in Gindiri, the GOSA host community by 8am and 11am in that order on Thursday November 24, 2022. There would also be tree planting, Commissioning of Projects/Inspection of Projects, Seminar on drugs and alcohol abuse and entrepreneurship. And finally, lunch with students that same day.

On Friday November 25, 2022, there would be GOSA National Executive Council (NEC) meeting by 2pm after paying last respect to the mother of one of them who is the APC Deputy gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Pam Botmang and later to Amusement Park for Festival of Traditional Arts and Culture (FESTAC)/Gashi and Medical Outreaach by 4pm respectively.

Also on Saturday November 26, 2022, the National Convention proper, continuation of the medical outreach and Dinner/Award Night and book presentation would take place by 9am to 5pm at the Conference Hall of Crispan Hotel and Suites (former Treasure Inn) Jos, the state capital. There is no dress code for that.

However, the grand finale would be the Reunion Service/Dedication of Ulster Church and presentation by Mr. Louis Choir at Ulster Church Gindiri in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State by 9am. Members are to appear in GOSA National Uniform (wrapper). The day would be rounded up with a Town Hall meeting in that order.

Meanwhile, the National President has assured members of security arrangements for this week long activities as they would visit all heads of security agencies and collaborate with them to see to the success of this occasion.

On his part, the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Chief James Bakfur, thanked journalists for telling the world what they were about to do during the 50th Anniversary. He cautioned members who are part of the planning committee to sit up and make sure they give their best to make the occasion a success.
