Governor Mohammed wins re-election bid

Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has won his re-election for the second term in office as Executive Governor of the state in the just concluded governorship polls where PDP had an advantage over APC in the Saturday 18 Governorship polls.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 525,280 votes to beat his closest rival, Sadique Baba Abubakar of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who polled 432,272 votes while Senator Haliru Dauda Jika, of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) placed third with 60,496 votes.

Announcing the results, the Bauchi State Governorship Election Returning Officer, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, VC Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa, said of the 2,749,268 registered voters in the state, only 1,0,58, 381 were accredited.

Prof. Abdulkarim explained that out of the 1,0,58,381, 1,0,49600 valid votes were cast while 15,221 votes were rejected.

Declaring the winner, Prof. Abdulkarim said “By the power conferred on me by the Electorial Act and as the Chief Collation and Returning Officer of the 2023 Gubernatorial election in Bauchi State, I Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, hereby declare that Senator Bala Mohammed of PDP having scored the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected”. That Mohammed Bala of the PDP having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby returned elected”.
