Group asks ex- minister, to join guber race

A group under the auspices of Coalition of Political Parties Support in Kogi Central Senatorial District has made a clarion call on the former Minister of State, Labour and Productivity, Professor Stephen Ocheni to run for the governorship seat in Kogi.
Chairman of the group, Alhaji Isah Ibrahim, at a press conference held in Lokoja on Tuesday, affirmed that Professor Stephen Ocheni has all it takes to win overwhelmingly during the forthcoming November governoship election in the state if given the chance.
“We solicit support for the former minister to be given the opportunity as number one citizen of Kogi in view of his track record of service and experience in the public and academic sector of human endeavour.
“Aside his track record of service both in the public and academic circle, Professor Ocheni has also touched positively the lives of the poor, needy, vulnerable and even the rich.
“We also need to set aside tribal, religious and political affiliations in our choice of who should govern Kogi and base our preference on credibility and ability to deliver as it relates to provision of democracy dividends to citizens.
High point of the conference was the conferment of Award of Excellence on Professor Stephen Ocheni as a boost to enable him to render more services for humanity.
Comrade Ali Atabor, former Chairman of Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Personal Aide to Professor Stephen Ocheni while receiving the award on behalf of his boss, said that he will convey their clarion call to his boss for consideration.
He appreciated the group for according his boss recognition of good performance during his services at both public and academic sectors.
He assured that the honour bestowed on his boss will spur him to continue to do more in service delivery when given the opportunity.
