IMC/CMMRC condemns killing of women, children in Plateau

The Conflict Mitigation Management Regional Council (IMC/CMMRC) Plateau State, has condemned in totality the gruesome attacks and senseless killings of people particularly, the killings of women and children in Mangu Local Government Area this week.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Plateau State CMMRC Secretary, Comrade Sadeeq Musa Hong’s and made available to SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos, the State capital last Thursday.
The statement stated that, “following the recent destruction of lives and properties in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, the CMMRC is calling on the state government to swiftly investigate these ugly incidents of unlawful killings of innocent citizens with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
“We urge the citizens of Plateau State to keep calm, maintain law and order and conduct themselves peacefully as they ventilate their grievances on the current state of affairs in their domains. We share in the grief of those who lost their loved ones.
“We commiserate with them and pray God to comfort and strengthen them. We are deeply saddened with the level of unprovoked and senseless killings of children and women in the local government and it is our prayer the perpetrators be brought to book.
“In line with the motto of Plateau State which is “Home of Peace and Tourism”, we demand that all the organs, persons and authorities of government in Plateau State should promote and preserve peace while praying for wisdom, courage and willingness to do what is right in other to achieve peace and tranquility through the state”, it reiterated
It would be recalled that in the late hours of Monday May 16, 2023 some strange movements of suspected Fulani militia were reported and shortly thereafter, there were attacks in some communities which escalated to others.
