Ishaku assents to N173 billion budget

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku had on Monday given assent to the 2023 Taraba State Appropriation Law which was recently passed by the State Assembly.

In a ceremony at the Government House, Executive Chamber, Ishaku passed the sum of N173,234,537,459.49k. That represents an increase of N502,000,000.40k from the initial sum of N172,732,537,459.40k presented to the House.

He thanked the House for passing the bill in record time and promise to ensure the monitoring of projects and program implementation and also work hard to generate revenue to finance the plans on ground.

Being his last engagement with the House, Ishaku thanked the House for the harmonious relationship with the executive and also the civil servants and all the citizens of the state for the opportunity given to him to serve the state.

“We have done the best possibly to be done. Without being immodest, we have come, we have seen, and we have conquered. As a very stringent teacher whose pass mark starts from 75, I have scored a pass mark”.

Earlier on, Speaker, Taraba House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini, said the House found it expedient to increase the allocation to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) by N500 million bearing into consideration the local government polls to be conducted within the calendar year.

He acknowledged the support of the Ishaku government but however appealed to the governor to listen to cries of legislative staff by paying them arrears of outfit allowance.
