Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda has tasked political leaders to remain committed on projects that would take Nigeria to the greatest height. Radda gave the advice in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, (CPS), Mallam Ibrahim Kaula- Mohammed issued on Monday in Katsina, and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD during June 12 celebration, marked as Democracy Day celebration in Katsina.

He said that the commemoration of June 12 should re-awaken the conscience of political leaders in the task of nation building for a prosperous and egalitarian society with strong and efficient institutions.

The Governor explained that the root of democracy has already been entrenched in Nigeria barely 24 years ago after the military rule. “That is why, the present set of Nigerian leaders, especially the political class, must strive hard towards making the country’s democracy a model for other African nations”

“There is need for the political leaders to to offer dividends of democracy to the teaming masses who elected them to power for a better deal” he said.

Radda said that it is necessary, in view of the myriad of socio-economic challenges the country is battling with, all hands must be on deck to cushion the hardship of the people.

He expressed gratitude to former President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 as new Nigeria’s Democracy Day in 2018 as against May 29, and a posthumous national honour for the self-acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, M K O Abiola.

He urged Nigerians to be patriotic and remain united and support the new President-elect, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu to accomplish his mission to fix the country.

Radda reiterated his commitment to fulfilling all his campaign promises, with a view to restoring Katsina State to it’s lost glories.

He said ¨The driving force of my administration will be ´Service to the people, equity, and justice for all.´ We will run a people-oriented government and resist anything compromising. We will put the interest of people first before any interest.”

He said he will lead by example, and he expects members of his cabinet and all public servants to do the same. He promises to be accountable on all issues, giving updates on the achievements and challenges of his administration.
