Langtang North Local Government Council and Eden Compassion and Health Mission Int’l (ECHM) recently concluded a successful six-day free health intervention programme in Plateau State. The programme, named the Kumzhi Health Initiative, aimed to provide medical assistance to indigent individuals who cannot afford certain medical bills in Langtang North and its surrounding areas.

During the closing ceremony, Hon. Godwin Nanmwa Kumzhi, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Langtang North L.G.C. and the sponsor of the Kumzhi Health Initiative 2023, expressed his gratitude to all those involved and appreciation for the tireless efforts of the ECHM team.

He emphasised the importance of giving back to the community and explained that the decision to sponsor the free medical outreach instead of the usual Independence Day parade, was a way to honour Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary.

Hon. Kumzhi lauded the large turnout in the five zones where the programme took place and was satisfied with the number of individuals who benefited from the medical intervention.

The Langtang North Local Government Council showcased their commitment to healthcare delivery by offering numerous surgeries, eye care services, deliveries, consultations, and distributing eyeglasses during the initiative.

However, Hon. Kumzhi also expressed his sorrow over the loss of a patient, Mrs. Nanyar Kamven, who passed away after a successful Goitre surgery. He extended his condolences to the family and prayed for strength and patience for them in this difficult time.

Hon. Kumzhi concluded by reiterating the council’s determination to continue improving the lives of the people in Langtang North. He emphasised that all efforts should be aimed at promoting the prosperity and future prospects of the local government. He expressed his appreciation to all those involved in the programme.

In his speech, the MD-CEO Eden- Compassion and Health Missions Int’l, Dr. Longbap Dinfa D. said the programme which held from 2nd to 7th October 2023, aimed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the undeserved population of the community, including eye surgery, consultations, and treatments.

Since its inception, Eden- Compassion and Health Missions Int’l has touched the lives of over 10,000 individuals. Dr. Longbap Dinfa D, the MD/CEO, commended the chairman of Langtang North LGA, Hon. Dr. Dinfa D. also outlined future plans for Eden- Compassion and Health Missions Int’l, including conducting health talks on viral hepatitis district by district in the eight districts of Langtang North LGA. Additionally, they plan to continue organised similar medical programmes twice a year in the LGA.
