A stalwart and former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Gombe, Baba Shuaibu Sabulu, has described Ahmad Khamisu Mailantarki as the best candidate that can take the state to the next level.

He stated this when he led hundreds of his supporters in Billiri LGA into the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP from the PDP.

He said, Gombe State deserves a governor that is focused, visionary and has the common man at heart and only Mailantarki of the NNPP can offer that kind of leadership out of all the candidates that are seeking election in a few weeks from now.

According to him, “We see Mailantarki as a better alternative for Gombe State. He possesses the requisite character and capacity to rescue Gombe State from the misrule of the APC.

“He has always been saying the right things and has done the right things in the past “, said Baba Sabulu, the once powerful party chairman when the PDP was in control of the state.

Earlier, the NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Ahmed Khamisu Mailantarki, who stormed Billiri along with other party executives and hundreds of supporters to receive the defectors that included Yila Dankuka, a former Deputy Chairman of Billiri LGA, Philip Bataliya and Mohammed Balas, assured them that they will be carried along in all activities of the party especially now that his campaigns will soon commence.

He urged them to garner more support and promote the party and its candidates in all nooks and crannies of the state, stressing that it is only through grassroots mobilization and voters’ sensitization that the NNPP can uproot and defeat the failed ruling APC in the state.

Presenting the membership cards to them, the Gombe State Chairman of the NNPP, Maikano Abdullahi, assured the defectors of equal opportunities in the party, stressing that the party will always uphold the tenets of justice, fairness and equity.

Among those that defected to the NNPP along with Baba Sabulu from the PDP in Billiri included current and former LGA and wards PDP officials, former councillors as well as women and youth groups.
