PLATEAU State Command of the Man ‘O’ War Nigeria, has organised a free medical outreach for over two hundred people in Kabong District of Jos-North Local Government Area as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities to the state.
This took place at the Primary School Gada-biu Kabong recently, where personnel from APIN, Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Jos, National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other stakeholders trooped in to play their parts.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Plateau State Commander of Man “O” War, Royal said, “we are here today to conduct free medical outreach to the people of Kabong. Looking at the situation of this country, we feel that this is the little area we can contribute to humanity.
“The reason for the medical outreach is because health is wealth. We cannot bring food to a man who is seriously sick and does not have appetite for food. Our needs these days are mostly medical needs because of the stress people are going through. Talk about malnutrition and the situation of the country.
“I have mandated my medical team that everybody should be tested for high blood pressure and weight. We conduct HIV hypothesis, typhoid, malaria and many other ailments. We want to concentrate on testing people so that the ones that we can make recommendations or referrals, we will do that for the hospitals to know what is disturbing them”, he highlighted.
According to the commander, “You know the cost of tests in the hospitals are very expensive and our test here will reduce the cost and make it easier for them. We do it as volunteers with some few collaborators who come with their manpower. We have organisations like APIN, Medical Students of the University of Jos, but financially, we tax ourselves as Man ” O” War.
“We have gone to other communities and places like Rock-Haven, Laranto and many others. We were at Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas sometimes back attending to the health needs of people there”, he disclosed.
Declaring the exercise open, the state Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Karen Tabetha Pam-Hworo, represented by the Chief Programme Officer of NOA, Mr. Reuben Egizo, commended the Man “O” War Nigeria, Plateau State Command for organising this medical outreach in their own way of contributing to the health needs of people.
On his part, the District Head of Kabong, Da Justice Gabriel Sha, who was represented by the Ward Head of Kabong, Da Nyam Gwom, who could not hide his joy, thanked the Man “O” War Nigeria for choosing Kabong as their place of interest and wished that the gesture will be repeated.
