Nasarawa state governor rated high in development

Kokona Local Government Chairman of Nasarawa state Hon. Saidu Kurku has rated Governor Abdullahi Sule of the State over 90% so far in areas of initiation and the execution of various developmental programmes and projects that has impacted positively on the lives of the people.

Assessing the developmental strides of the Governor while speaking with newsmen in his office at Garaku, the headquarters of the local government during the week the Chairman stated that so far so good the Governor has lived up to the expectations of people with the developmental projects and programmes put in place across the state.

“I can say without any minsing words that so far so good Governor Abdullahi Sule has scored more than 90% in taking the state to the next level of developmental activities as well as the peaceful co-existence, unity and harmony being enjoyed by the people across the state” he stated.

The Chairman then expressed delight that his local government area is the first beneficiary of the Governor’s developmental projects because it was there that he started the building of classroom blocks at Angwan Jarmai and completed as well as flag off the enlightenment programme against flooding among others.

He stated that what is more gladdening is that similar projects and programmes were being replicated across the state especially in the areas of education, water supplies, transparency roads infrastructure, improvement of health care services among others.  

Kurki who congratulated the Governor for the remarkable success he has recorded so far however advised him to continue with the tempo so as to take the state to an enviable position.

To the people of his local government, the Chairman appealed to them to continue to remain peaceful and law abiding to the constituted authorities, assuring that on his part the council would continue to be committed to their socio-economic wellbeing to the best of its abili

Nasarawa LG sensitizes on Corona virus

The enlightenment programme embarked upon by the authorities of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to sensitize the people about the dreaded Corona Virus on the need to adhere to the partial lockdown imposed by the state government is said to be recording a significant response from the people in the area.

The Executive Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Sani Otto made the disclosure in a telephone interview with Sunday Standard in Keffi during the week, saying that the response or compliance from the people of his local government is quite encouraging.

“I can tell you that the response or compliance by our people here in Nasarawa Local Government Area about the partial lockdown imposed by the state government with a view to curtailing the outbreak of the dreaded COVID-19 is quite impressive and we are doing more on it” he stated.

The Chairman who assured that the campaign would be taken to all the nooks and crannies of the area despite the landmass, stated that no stone would be left unturned in that regard in view of the dangers or threat posed by the disease not only for Nigeria but for the whole world.

“In view of the serious danger or threat posed by the deadly Corona-virus to humanity in general, we would not rest on our oars in educating our people on the need for them to learn how to keep themselves away from it and stay safe and healthy” he assured.

The Chairman then stated that they are working side-by-side with the healthcare providers to teach the people on the need to adopt various safety measures especially frequent hand washing and other hygiene practices.

He therefore thanked the Nasarawa State Government for its quick response and measures taken to secure the state and its people against the deadly disease saying that the efforts have gone to show that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

Otto who further thanked the state government for its efforts in sending food materials to the vulnerable members of the society assured that on their part, they would ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the items to the targeted beneficiaries.      

LG boss appeals for feeder roads construction

A passionate appeal has gone to the Nasarawa State Government on the need to consider the construction of Garaku-Dari-Amba-Bassa road and Garaku-Angwan Takwa-Moroa roads in its roads developmental project.

This according to the Kokona Local Government Chairman Hon. Saidu Kurki has become imperative in view of the need to harness the abundant agricultural, human and material resources the said places were endowed with.

Speaking with newsmen in his office at Garaku, the headquarters of the local government during the week about the desire to open-up the areas for an effective communication and other socio-economic activities that would impact positively on the lives of the people, the local government and the state as a whole.

The chairman who lamented that the people of the affected areas have been without access roads for long despite the abundant potentialities they were blessed with especially for their remarkable contributions in agriculture, human resources and the general socio-economic development of the area and the state.

He therefore believed that the construction of the roads would not only wipe their tears but encourage them to do more especially in the areas of agriculture and other areas of human endeavour.

Kurki who expressed  optimism that the state government would listen to their request and act accordingly, assured of their continued support and co-operation to enable it succeed.

On its part, the chairman assured that the local government is working hard to justify the confidence reposed on it by the people of the area through the initiation and execution of various developmental projects and programmes like rural feeder roads, water supplies to the rural communities, healthcare delivery services, and agricultural development among others.

He however appealed to the people of his local government to continue to remain peaceful and law abiding with a view to continuing to attract government projects, programmes and patronage.
