Following the devastation caused by the Saints Academy collapse where scores of students were killed in Jos, the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Hajiya Zubaida Umar, has visited the scene, victims in hospitals and commiserated with Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

The NEMA DG, in company of her management staff, who visited the governor at his residence at the Old Government House, Rayfield, disclosed that they had to put off all of their official functions to come commiserate with the government and people of the state over last Friday’s unfortunate incident.

According to her, it was a monumental devastation, having claimed the lives of innocent students and promised to liaise with the Plateau State Government to curtail similar incidents.

Hajiya Umar used the visit to commend the governor for his developmental strides in the state and for giving the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) the necessary support.

Responding, Governor Mutwang appreciated NEMA for their prompt visit, saying that what happened was a test case for them as a state.

He promised to ensure that SEMA became more active and work as it should and thanked the DG for her nationalistic approach in mitigating disasters.

Governor Mutfwang stated that the Plateau State Government would set up a high powered committee to unravel the causes of the collapse.
