NIPSS recommendation, strategies will fast-track industrialization- Osinbajo

Recommendations and strategies by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies would serve a roadmap to fast-track the process of industrialization in Nigeria, Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo has said.

Osibanjo stated this on Monday at the inauguration of the Senior Executive Course 45 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS, Kuru in Jos.

The formal inauguration of the 92 nominees for the Senior Executive Course 45 marks the beginning of their eleven months of study at the Nigeria’s apex policy making institution.

The Vice President who was Special Guest at the inaugural ceremony said records of the institute and the combined efforts of the participants’ contributions and recommendations have gradually found their way into the heart of government.

Represented by the Plateau State Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden, Osinbajo said President Muhammadu Buhari recently inaugurated two different committees to assist and guide the institute in carrying out its mandate and ensure workable recommendation were realised at the end of this year’s programme.

Governor Simon Lalong who was also represented by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden, while congratulating the participants for being worthy to be selected, said the study may not be easy but believed that they were prepared and ready to add value to governance in Nigeria.

Earlier, Director General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo said participants were drawn from the federal and state civil service, the military, police, para-military organizations as well as professional bodies and the private sector.

He noted that the participants were carefully selected based on merit to study on the theme: ” Industrialization, Climate Change Energy and Security in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Prospects.” They were expected to present their findings to the president at the end of the programme.

The Gbong Gwom, Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba and other notable dignitaries were also present at the event.
