NTF put smiles on faces of Mangu IDPs

In fulfillment of its core mandate of improving the quality of life and reducing poverty in society, the Nnaedozie Thomas Foundation (NTF) has donated cash and clothing to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mangu Local government area of the state.
Presenting the items to the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA) in Mangu recently, the chairman of NTF, a Lagos based non-governmental organization (NGO), Mr Nnaedozie Christogonus Agbosonu explained that the decision to donate the items was based on reports of the humanitarian crisis that had befallen the area as a result of recent attacks on Mwaghavul communities by the Fulani militia.
Represented by the vice chairman of NTF, Mr Omeh Onoja, the chief executive of the NGO, assured that his organization would do more to ameliorate the living conditions of the IDPs.
He stated that NTF, which also has offices in Imo and Plateau States, would explore other areas of assisting the people of Plateau State, such as skills acquisition and education.
The secretary of Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Dr Solomon Mangvwat, while receiving the cash and clothing, appreciated the NGO and promised that the items would be equitably distributed among the 17 IDPs camps in the LGA.
He revealed that the recent attacks in the area, which started a few months ago, consumed over 200,000 people and displaced over 30,000 others, while properties and crops worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
Dr. Mangvwat said that the major challenges facing the 17 IDPs were food, clothing, and mats, adding that coming of the NGO to the camp was a source of comfort to the Mwaghavul Nation.
