Philanthropist commends Deputy Governor’s passion for youth empowerment

A Philanthropist and President of Enemona Josh Humanitarian Foundation, Gabriel Onoja has lauded the commitment of Kogi Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja to empower the youths and the less privileged in the state.

Gabriel Onoja also called on the well to do Nigerians to emulate the examplary passion of the Deputy Governor in uplifting the living conditions of the future leaders and the down throdden across the country.

The Philanthropist gave the charge while speaking at the 48th Birthday Day of the Deputy Governor, held in Lokoja on Wednesday.

“Your youths mentorship drive is great and impactful here in Kogi having used your position to attract and placed a good number of them in leadership positions,” he said.

The president said the foundation, “is today joining millions of Nigerians especially Kogi residents to celebrate with your 48th Birthday on this Earth.”

Onoja, who prayed for the Deputy Governor to enjoy God’s divine Health, protection and blessings as he moves on with life, enjoined him to remain God fearing in all his endeavours.

He said that, posterity will be kind to the celebrant for the purposeful roles played at complimenting to the new direction of Gov Yahaya Bello’s led administration.

“It’s our hope that at 48, God will renew your capacity, expertise and competence to dedicate your service to humanity with courage, dexterity, simplistic-but dogged disposition to provision of good leadership as deputy governor of the state.

“We know you as a detribalised Nigerian, patriot, democrat and a devoted Christian, whose contributions to the development of Kogi remained unequal and historic, ” he said.

The president further described the Deputy Governor as an “influential personality” whose youthfulness, political and leadership style has made him a rallying point for youths in Kogi State and beyond.

While wishing him a blissful and spirit filled birthday celebration, Onoja said “at 48, you are still energetic and has the requisite capacity and competences to perfectly carry out delegated responsibilities and state assignments for growth and development of Kogi.

Insane man killed over kidnapping diabolically

 

A 55-year insane man was burnt to ashes by unruly angered group in Okene over accusation of abducting children through diabolic means.

It was gathered that the mob paraded the man on the streets at Okengwe axis of Okene Local Government area before burning him to ashes.

Eye witness account, said the group tied the man’s two hands and beat him seriously before dragging him to Okengwe where he was set ablaze.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Abdulrazaq Muhammad has ordered the arrest of masterminds of the killing of a man with mental disorder.

In a press statement by the Council Chairman made available to Our Correspondent on Tuesday, described the masterminds as criminals who took the laws into their hands without allowing law enforcement agencies to handle the situation.

According to the statement, the chairman has directed security agencies to carry out investigation on the unfortunate incident while the District head of Okengwe, some ward heads and community leaders were invited to make statements for their negligence of responsibilities.

“However, preliminary investigations indicate that the information that led to the murder of the man was fake.

“Those behind the jungle justice will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“Youths of Okene Local Government and the general public are hereby cautioned on the spread of fake news.

Residents are also advised to verify every security information and report same to government for appropriate action.

 

NDLEA seizes 456.8 kg of illicit drugs in Kogi

 

NATIONAL Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kogi State Command has said that they have arrested 4 suspects and seized 456.8 kg of illicit drugs in four days.

The NDLEA’s Commander in Kogi State, Abdulkadir Abdullahi-Fakai, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lokoja.

“The 456.8kg illicit drugs including Exol-5, Codeine, and Cannabis Sativa were seized between July 30 and August 3, within the jurisdiction of Kogi.

“Out of the 456.8 kg drugs seized, 229.8 kg is Cannabis Sativa, 190 kg is Codeine and 20.6 kg is Exol-5, all of which were intercepted by crack intelligence officers and forwarded to our head office in Abuja.

“The four suspects arrested will soon be charged to court for prosecution in accordance with the laws of the land,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction with the synergy between the NDLEA and other security agencies.

The commander said that the police had handed over 229.8kg of Cannabis Sativa and a suspect to the agency.

He also acknowledged the Kogi State government’s support.
