The Management of Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos, has staged a valedictory walk organised by the Mass Communication Department of the University in honour of its deceased Head Of Department, Dr. Nancy Katu Ogundimu who died recently.

This came in a press statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, John K. Agam, and made available to SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital shortly after the valedictory walk held in Bokkos.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Matur Malau Bernard, described the late Head of Department, Mass Communications, Dr. Nancy Katu Ogundimu, as an exceptional academician whose contributions to the Senate, university and department were exemplary and should be emulated.

He said the death of Dr Nancy came as a rude shock which sent shivers to the spine of not only her department, but the entire university community, particularly the Senate and management of the university when her positive and qualitative contributions to deliberations in the Senate were most needed.

Matur reiterated that the university Senate had recently endorsed that a procession be organised in her honour as a third tier member before her demise and used the occasion to further sympathise with staff and students of the Mass Communication Department over her death.

The Vice Chancellor, therefore, called on the staff and students of the department to give the new Head Of Department the required encouragement and support to enable the department to grow.

Among those who paid posthumous respect and glowing tributes to the former Head of Department were Professor Moses Galadima Pyefa who described late Nancy as an intelligent and one extra-ordinary personality he first met at the School of Preliminary Studies,Keffi.

He, said, “the death of Dr. Nancy came so sudden with no prior signs and that the best way to appreciate her is to hold dear what she lived for and the impact she has made on the university community.

Both the new Head of Department of Mass Communications, Dr. Michael Adeyanjo, and the President of the Department of Mass Communication Students Association, Comrade Dalap Isaac Simon, all showered accolades on the late Dr. Nancy Katu Ogundimu and prayed to God to grant her soul eternal rest.
