Member representing Kanke Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Wallok Philip Goma, has raised concern calling for Government quick intervention into victims of recent rainstorm who are left homeless in his constituency.

He made the appeal last Tuesday, while speaking to Sunday Standard in response to the distress message received from his constituents following Tuesday’s early hours rainstorms that ravaged some households in two of Kanke Districts.

The Lawmaker said, “it is unfortunate that this is happening at this time of raining season and you know as representative of my people, whatever happens to one is my concern. I have always been in the chamber speaking about their plight and even this morning, I got a wind of what happened while at the preliminary Session about the rainstorm that affected my people in some communities.

And so, when a motion was moved at the floor of the House on the damage the rainstorm had done in some communities across the state, I made an application for the inclusion of my people who were affected by rainstorm at Ladini in Nemel and Kopghing in Ampang East of Kanke Constituency where I represent.

“Therefore, I would like to appeal to the State Government through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to as a matter of urgent concern, intervene by assisting these victims now that the rains are on. I am aware of other communities that were affected by this rainstorm in other constituency, but as the Representative of my people, I would like them to be included,” he appealed.

However, Hon. Goma has congratulated Governor Simon Bako Lalong, on his first year in office of his Second Tenure and prayed God to continue to give him the wisdom that would enable him to add to the tremendous work he has been doing in the state.

“Talk about the Legacy Projects of the Governor. We have gone round on inspection to see things for ourselves and they are perfectly on-going. We know the tremendous work the Government is doing which include the Zero potholes and other wonderful projects across the state,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the member has also appealed to the Governor to turn his developmental search light on the General Hospital in the constituency which has been there almost two decades ago without completion stressing that, “in this era of health challenges, something needs to be done swiftly.”
