The Taraba Inland Revenue Service (TIRS), has sealed all branches of First Bank in Taraba State over default in payment of tax worth N350 million.

The Director, Road Tax Administration, Mr Felix Manti had confirmed that the action was taken after the bank failed to meet an agreement to pay the accumulation of taxes accruing over the years worth N350 million.

Also, the Secretary/Legal Adviser of the Taraba Internal Revenue Service, Barr Nierus Johnson, stated that the Service was compelled to carry out the action pursuant to Section 104 of the Personal Income Tax Act which empowers the Service to carry out distrainment on any tax defaulter.

He stated further that it is no longer business as usual and called on other corporate organisations to step forward and pay their proper taxes to the State Government or face same sanctions.

Officials of the organisation in company of security personnel then stormed two of the branches of the bank in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital and sealed it, leaving staff and customers stranded.
