Tyoden charges couples to emulate Mary and Joseph

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden has admonished couples to imbibe the perfect example of Joseph and Mary in the Bible who lived in peace with great affection for one another as the secret for a successful marriage.

Tyoden who spoke at the wedding solemnization of Joseph Samuel Banwat and Mary Vondip at the COCIN Headquarters Church in Jos, last Saturday.

It was a joyous day for the couple and the parents as guests from within and outside the state gathered to witness the celebration of love between the groom and the bride.

The Deputy Governor who was among personalities at the occasion, shared in the joy of the couple for nurturing their courtship to maturity and advised them to live together in love as Mary and Joseph in the Bible.

The wedding of Joseph Samuel, son of Pharmcist Samuel Banwat, Elder brother to the immediate past Chief Medical Director, CMD of the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, Professor Edmond Banwat also had in attendance, COCIN President, Rev Dr Amos Mohzo and top executives of the Church.

Officiating clergy, Rev Moses Chagumi likened the Christian marriage to a spiritual love which was bonded on each and urged the husband to allow God to use him to give to his wife whatever he has to give her.

No background, according to the cleric should be the basis for the choice of a partner, noting that society today considers qualifications and education as the highest priority. But said the goal of the husband was to reflect Jesus in his wife with love just as Jesus loved the church.

Chagumi enjoined the groom to be the defender of his wife at all times while the bride should be submissive to her husband and also ensure humility even as he wished the couple a successful married life.
