The national headquarters of Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, FIN has distanced itself from the planned 10 days nationwide protest on bad governance, describing it as an ill- wind capable of destroying the good of the nation.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the group’s President and the group’s Director General, Media and Publicity, Sheikh Muhammad Arabi Abul Fathi  and Ustaz Sani Ibn Salihu and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD, Monday.

The statement declared, “Following recent plans to hold nationwide protests against bad governance in Nigeria from 1st-10th August 2024, Fityanul Islam of Nigeria hereby distances itself from such mass action as it is an ill wind that will not blow any good to the nation.

“Such mass actions in our country Nigeria are easily infiltrated and manipulated by some unpatriotic elements to unleash mayhem that could lead to a total breakdown of law and order.”

The statement pointed out that “We have not yet as a nation, fully recovered from the traumatic effects of the infamous #EndSARS Protests. It is therefore, unthinkable for us to support another of such mass protests.”

The leadership of Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, therefore, called on Muslims across the country not to join what it described as a “charade” but use the period for intensive fasting and prayers in mosques all over the country to seek for Allah’s intervention.

The president encouraged them to recite the Glorious Qur’an a million times within the ten days and be engage in countless Istighfar (seeking for Allah’s forgiveness).

He added that prayer had always been the time- tested solution to individual and societal challenges from pre-colonial times to the moment and that, as Muslims, they knew that such protests could go wrong at any point.

Abdulfathi rejected the attempt to attribute the current challenges facing the nation to the Muslim -Muslim ticket on which the governing party was voted in and called on Nigerians not allow themselves to be deceived by the chaos imported from Kenya.

He advised Nigerian youth to resist every attempt to manipulate their emotions using the current hardships as a pretext to destroy our country.
