Agwai stresses need for addressing inter-family land disputes

The need to develop a legal framework for addressing intra-family land disputes for sustainable peace has been stressed.

Governor Mutfwang of Plateau State stressed this when he received on a courtesy call a delegation from the Middle Belt Brain Trust at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, on Monday.

The Middle Belt Brain Trust is a Non-Governmental Forum created to work for the achievement of peace and development in the region.

The governor lamented that the region had not fully utilized its potentials and also identified poverty as one of its main problems.

Mutfwang further stressed the need to address issues related to land administration and pledged to work with the group to address identified challenges.

Earlier, Chairman of the Middle Belt Brain Trust, Retired General Martin Luther Agwai, who highlighted activities of the group, identified land management as a major cause of insecurity in the belt and advocated a multi-faceted approach towards tackling the myriads of challenges bedeviling the Middle Belt.
