NADCEL 2024: Tinubu commits to promoting officers’ welfare

THE Nigerian Army last Saturday celebrated its day tagged, Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024, where President Ahmed Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards improving their welfare and equipping the officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

The president said that if the welfare of the soldiers was well taken care of and the necessary working tools provided, they would be able to protect the country with ease.

The celebration was held at the Headquarters, 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

Represented by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, President Tinubu commended the officers and men of the armed forces for laying down their lives for the country.

He enjoined them to evolve strategies to confront headlong the violent groups giving innocent people sleepless nights.

The president urged them to collaborate with other security agencies to protect the territorial integrity of the country and he gave the Chief of Army Staff a pat on the back  for organising event.

Welcoming guests, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Taoheed Lagbaja, commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for giving them the needed support which had enabled them effectively protect the nation.

According to him, the week-long activities afforded them the opportunity to offer medical services to communities, provide instructional materials to schools and commission projects in the host communities.

He explained that the theme for the 2024 NADCEL, “Transforming the Nigerian Army :  Imperative for combating contemporary security challenges within a joint environment “, afforded the soldiers the opportunity to interface and resolve to proactively deal with security challenges.

Soldiers displayed their weaponry skills before dignitaries who included governors Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and Agbu Kefas of Plateau and Taraba states, respectively.
