Mutfwang calls for return of displaced people

PLATEAU State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has called for the immediate return of displaced people of Barkin-Ladi to their ancestral homes.

He made the call recently at the official commissioning and handing over of the Mobile Police Base in Gashish District of Barkin-ladi LGA constructed and handed over by the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC) in Kakuruk community.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS),  Arc. Samuel N. Jatau,  said, “This project is dear to everyone on the Plateau and it is of note that anybody that knows the history of what happened here in the last two years will be happy and say it is the day the Lord has made.

“We are seeing the realisation that peace is beginning to return to the communities because this is the major step.

“While we bring the security forces here to return peace to the communities, we also have to make  efforts to return people that have been displaced back to their ancestral homes because there are people who have left their homes and are now homeless.”

Mutfwang appealed to the Federal Government to make necessary arrangements to return all those who had fked their homes as a result of constant attacks.

On his part, the Gbong Gwom Jos, and Chairman, Plateau State Traditional Council, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, thanked the Federal Government and the National Assembly for making it a reality.

“We are not unaware of the great sacrifices that the security aparatuses were making to restore peace in our communities.

Jatau encouraged people to join the local residents,because as he put it, “I want to believe that we have extensive potentials for farming and other development infrastructure and we will continue to appeal to the government and other spirited citizens to take advantage because no community stays on its own and develop as required,” the traditional ruler enthused
