Kogi Polytechnic convocation: 249 graduate with distinction

The Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, will on Saturday, graduate a total number of 12,080 students at its 4th combined convocation ceremony.

Of the figure, the polytechnic would be graduating 7,653 students at National Diploma level and 4,427 at Higher National Diploma Status.

Also 249 Students would be graduating with distinction during the 4th Combined Convocation ceremony.

This is as the Polytechnic says it prides itself as an institution committed to graduating students who are employers of labour in the country.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, disclosed this at a pre-convocation press conference, held at the polytechnic’s main campus in Lokoja, on Thursday.

The rector enumerated some of his achievements in the polytechnic to include tackling the insecurity that was synonymous with the institution before his assumption of office. Others include gaining prominence in academic matters and quality assurance as 30 programmes of the institution had received full accreditation.

He said that his administration was able to establish new directorates, improve the physical infrastructure in the institution as well improvement in environmental maintenance.

While pointing out that his administration succeeded in blocking revenue leakages in the institution, he expressed satisfaction with the increase in internally generated revenue. And added that his administration has also recruited new staff in the institution.

Dr. Ogbo explained that he has within the limit of available resources, implemented the promotion of staff from 2015-2019, started the initiative of constituting the
Alumni Association of the institution.

He also said that the polytechnic under his tenure has erected a secretariat for the Student Union Government. The rector pointed out that the processing of results of the polytechnic have been fast tracked with the introduction of Academic Board Central Results Verification
