SUBEB opens bid for construction/renovation of classrooms

PLATEAU State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has opened bid for the award of contracts for construction/renovation of classrooms for public schools in the state.

The occasion was held recently at the premises of SUBEB, Dogon-Dutse in Jos-North Local Government Area, with the representatives of the Forum of Local Contractors, state Ministry of Justice and that of Education in attendance.

The Director Physical and Engineering Services, Chief (Engr) Gabriel Ayuba, disclosed that the projects, which came through the National Competitive Bidding Process for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2021 and 1st and 4th quarters of 2022, were made up of the construction of 55 blocks with 110 classrooms, 36 stores and 36 offices respectively.

Other projects included the renovation of 62 blocks with 148 classrooms, 32 offices, 32 stores and 32 toilets while those for completion were 14 blocks of classrooms, 9 stores and 9 offices in that order.

It was also made up of the reconstruction of 1 examination hall and construction of 498m perimeter fence and 1 gate house from the over 3 billion matching grant provided by the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB).
